SiSiB® PB2004

Acetoxime
Synonym: 2-Propanone Oxime; Dimethylketoxime; Acetone Oxime
Chemical Structure

Introduction
Oximes are compounds containing C=NOH group which are formed from carbonyl group CO by condensation reaction of hydroxylamine with aldehydes or ketones; e.g ethanal (CH3CHO) forms the oxime CH3CH=NOH.
Typical Physical Properties
Chemical Name: 2-Propanone Oxime
CAS No.: 127-06-0
EINECS No.: 204-820-1
Empirical Formula: C3H7NO
Molecular Weight: 73.09
Boiling Point: 135°C/760mmHg
Flash Point: 60°C

Color and Appearance: White crystals
Density [25°C]: 0.901
Acid Value: (mg KOH/g) Max.2.0%
Purity: 99.5%
Applications
Oximes are reduced easily to amines, which are used in the manufacture of dyes, plastics, synthetic fibres, and pharmaceuticals. Acetoxime is a skin-preventing additive in paints and lacquers. It acts as an antioxidant against oxidative drying materials which forms sticky skin with air oxygen. The another effect of anti-skinning favors drying time delay which can be used in formulating paints. Acetoxime is used as a chemical intermediate.
